This class is designed for the parent/child team to work together on the a wheel using 1.5 lbs of clay to create a unique piece of their own. In the 45 minutes of class the instructor will give you a step-by-step demonstration, you get your own hands-on experience working together with clay on the wheel, and you can choose one of your small creations to be fired for you. Then you can return to paint it in a week.

**Ages 4-7 years will partner with a parent on the wheel. Ages 8+ may register for their own wheel and parents are welcomed to register for their own to work side-by-side. Minimum ages are non-negotiable.

These two week sessions are the perfect starting class for kids 9-14 who want to try out the potters wheel. Week 1 will learn the basics of wheel throwing and week 2 we will glaze the pieces. Kids are encouraged to take multiple sessions to hone their skills.

This three week class is designed to give you a strong start in the basics of the potter's wheel - no prior wheel experience necessary. You will experience the whole process of pottery creation from the clump of clay to shiny glazed masterpiece. Each class includes demonstrations, a hands-on instructor, 10 lbs of clay, the use of tools and glazes, kiln firings of your creations, and four open studio drop-in practice sessions during the class session.

Looking for the next step after you have taken pottery 101? This workshop is for you! You don’t have to be a master, just understand the basics of clay to take this class and learn more techniques that anyone can use to improve their work and grow. Designed for our ceramics studio members as well as potters in our community; the class starts with an intensive demo workshop on the topic listed and then leaves time for students to ask questions, talk about projects they are working on, have a round table discussion and talk shop.
· January 6: Tall on the Wheel, working with heavy weights.
This class will focus on wheel throwing, techniques for wheel potters to tackle larger amounts of clay, how to get it ready and make it tall.
· February 3: Tea Pots on Wheel and hand built, assembling pieces.
This is a two-part class that will cover how to throw a tea pot on the wheel and also how to hand build one!
· March 3: Altering Forms, Play with Shapes hand building and wheel.
In this class we will take basic cylindrical shapes thrown and hand build and explore different ways to alter them and create funky fascinating forms.
· April 7: Using Mocha Diffusion and Sodium Silicate to decorate the surface. (on or off wheel)
This class can be for hand builders and wheel potters alike as we play with ways to decorate the surface of a leather hard pot!
· June 2: The Magic of Paper Clay (on or off wheel)
Paper clay is an amazing special combination of clay and paper pulp that can help hand building and wheel potters alike achieve larger, thinner and stronger forms. We will cover how to make it and what you can do with it!
· July 7: Wheel to Table, combine throwing and building to make large dishes.
Ever wanted to make a really big lasagna dish, a tray or fruit bowl? This class is for you. We will talk about the many ways to start a piece on the wheel and then finish it with slabs and hand building.

New & Experienced students invited to fire up with Megan. Bring your own bisque pottery to fire (5inx5inx5in max, includes one piece. $5 for each additional paid day of) or buy a piece off our shelves at 10% discount day of the event.

Try out the clay with your little one! Work together as a team on a potters wheel***! This special lesson includes 3lbs of clay that you can come back and glaze after firing for no additional charge.
*These days may have available space not showing online by calling the Studio to book your lesson.
*** This lesson is designed for younger children to work with a parent or guardian on the potters wheel. Children in this age group have not yet developed the strength to throw on a potters wheel alone. Only one wheel will be used and parents must work with the child to create their pots. Fee includes set up, clean up, clay, as well as return trip to glaze.
**$25 deposit will be collected to book date online, balance is due the day of lesson.

Ever wanted to try out the potters wheel? This is your chance! One night, one and half hours, hands on demo and 3 lbs of clay. You will get to come back 7-10days from that date and paint your finished pot.
