Clay LAB MEMBERSHIPS
Please Read: APPLIES TO ALL CLAY LAB USERS
*New visitors are required to attend a one-time orientation - FILL OUT FORM BELOW TO SCHEDULE. All orientations take approx. an hour to cover clay studio rules a tour of tools, materials and firing schedules along with time to create in clay. Cost of clay is purchased at the front prior to orientation and if a lesson is needed to brush up on skills, may require an hour private lesson fee. The purpose of creating in clay during the orientation is to move through the steps of setting up your space, proper cleaning of the space and where items go after use or are ready for firing.
There is no instruction with open clay studio so in many cases individuals like to sculpt and hand-build. Clay Studio projects do involve multiple visits: 1) build/throw 2) glazing. Items may be picked up and painted with acrylics at home (no visit charge for pick-ups) though items are not safe for food use.
Wheel Use: Experienced (in the last year) wheel potters may use our potter's wheels. Private lessons available to brush up on skills (good for those wanting to use a wheel but it has been over a year) by appointment only.
Current Wheel 101 Students: Students enrolled in a currently held Wheel 101 session (to-date) have 4 free access passes to the clay studio to practice and create during Studio hours! Just another reason to take a class.
Normal Hours: The Ceramics Studio is open Tues-Fri 11 am-9 pm, Sat 10 am-9 pm & Sun 12-6 pm. Open Mondays 12-5 in the summer.
Only 24 Hour Access Members are allowed to enter the Studio after hours or stay beyond closing hours.
Studio users are welcomed to drop in at any time. Although we do teach classes and private lessons, space and a few wheels are always available. For quick reference, Tuesdays 6:30-9 pm and Saturday mornings 10 am-1 pm are the 'heaviest' traffic with classes. Other dates are small groups or individuals.
Use: The Clay/Ceramics Studio is intended for personal use. Please consult the Kiln Master prior to purchasing a membership about size & volume production use.
